Ljubljana, 24. junij – 13. julij 1996

3.1 PREDAVANJA – Predavanja predstavljajo najnovejše, sprotne dosežke sodobne znanstvene misli o slovenski jezikoslovni, literarni in kulturni ustvarjalnosti. V letu 1996 bodo osredotočena na glavno temo z naslovom SLOVENSKI JEZIK, LITERATURA IN KULTURA IN SLOVANSKI SVET – medsebojni stiki in vplivi.

3.2 POSEBNI TEČAJI – Obravnavajo aktualna vprašanja slovenskega knjižnega jezika in stilistike, sodobne slovenske književnosti z interpretacijo leposlovnih besedil, razvoj slovenskega jezika in njegovo narečno razplastenost, posamezna poglavja iz zgodovine književnosti, sociolingvistike, primerjalne slavistike, prevajanja ter posamezne vidike kulturnega razvoja (zgodovina, etnologija, umetnostna zgodovina, glasba ipd.).

3.5 DOPOLNILNI PROGRAM – poteka popoldne in zvečer. Vanj sodijo organizirani obiski kulturnih ustanov (galerij, muzejev, razstav), okrogle mize, gledališke ali filmske predstave, literarni in glasbeni večeri, okrogle mize. Ekskurzija sredi seminarja, letos v nedeljo, 7. julija, bo vodila v slovensko Istro in Primorje (Hrastovlje, Piran).

Seminar on Slovene language, literature, and culture

  1. TIME – June 24–July 13 1996
  2. ORGANIZER – Center for Slovene as a Foreign or Second Language of the Department of Slavonic Languages and Literatures of the Arts Faculty of the University of Ljubljana.
  3. 4. FORMS OF INSTRUCTION – The Seminar functions on several levels. The basic program consists of lectures, special informative courses, and language classes. These activities are accompanied by a special afternoon program designed to complement and enrich the basic program: participants will become acquainted with current issues of contemporary Slovene life and culture, they will be introduced to the major Slovene cultural and scholarly institutions, and on a carefully planned one-day field trip they will become familiar with life in a specific region of Slovenia.
    1. LECTURES – Lectures present the most recent achievements of Slovene scholarship in the fields of Slovene linguistics, literature, and culture. In 1996 they will be focused on the Slovene language, literature, and culture and the Slavonic world–historic relationships and influences.
    2. SPECIAL COURSES – These deal with current issues concerning Slovene literary language and stylistics, contemporary Slovene literature with interpretation of fiction, the development of Slovene language and its dialectal variety, selected chapters from literary history, sociolinguistics, comparative Slavistics, translation, and individual aspects of Slovene cultural development (history, ethnology, art history, music, etc.).
    3. LANGUAGE CLASSES and CONVERSATION CLASSES – These sessions are organized according to the level of the participants' command of Slovene and their specific Slovenist interests (linguistics, translation, journalism, or literature). They become familiar with the structure of Slovene literary language, improve their conversational ability, increase their exposure to the diversity of Slovene language registers, become familiar with the stylistics of Slovene literary and non-literary texts, and practice composition. Attending language classes is obligatory.
    4. AN INTRODUCTORY COURSE FOR BEGINNERS will take place one week before the actual start of the seminar (June 24–June 29).
    5. SUPPLEMENTARY PROGRAM – runs in the afternoons and evenings. It includes guided visits to cultural institutions (galleries, museums, exhibitions), round table discussions, theatre performances or films, literary and music evenings.
